Revolution Health, which offers a comprehensive health care Web site designed for families, has purchased HealthTalk, a Web-based vendor of chronic care information. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
Seattle-based HealthTalk offers original multi-media health content to more than 1 million unique visitors per month and has more than 500,000 members who receive targeted health information that covers treatment and quality of life aspects of various chronic care conditions. Additionally, it offers forums that enable patients to interact with others with their condition.
Washington-based Revolution Health, which was founded by AOL co-founder Steve Case, went live with its Web site last spring. It offers personal health records, reference content, online communities, a directory of physicians, an insurance marketplace, and a health risk assessment tool, in addition to several fee-based services.
The addition of HealthTalk will expand the type of reference content offered on Revolution Health's site, which will enable it to broaden its audience, executives say.
Revolution Health last October sold its ConnectYourCare subsidiary to St. Louis-based Express Scripts, (see story at

ConnectYourCare's Web portal enables electronic enrollment in a health savings account, as well as account management, medical reference and comparison shopping information. The applications were previously available from the Revolution Health Web site.
