The six organizations leading the test are Bronx Lebanon Hospital, Martin Luther King Health Center, Bronx Lebanon Special Care Center, Montefiore Medical Center, Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center and the Bronx Community Health Network. Patients at these facilities will be asked during the next few months if they would like to participate in the RHIO.
The initial data set being tested will include laboratory results, prescribed and dispensed medications, diagnoses, procedures, encounters, and demographic information.
Vendor partners for the Bronx RHIO include Yonkers-based Emerging Health Information Technology as the prime contractor; Pittsburgh-based dbMotion Ltd. for integration and a data exchange platform; St. Paul, Minn.-based RxHub LLC for prescription information from pharmaceutical payers; and Chicago-based Initiate Systems for master patient index software.
Bronx RHIO has been funded through undisclosed contributions from participants and a $4.1 million state grant. The organization has applied for an additional $9 million in state grant funds. More information is available at bronxrhio.org.
