The SurgiChip technology uses an RFID chip that is placed on a patient at the location where an incision is to be made. The chip can be programmed with various data, including the patient’s name, physician, procedure and site location.

Physicians then scan the chip before surgery to verify the information with data in a management application. The software also offers an electronic audit trail to document that the information was verified before the surgery.
