Chicago Provider Gets RAC Help

Resurrection Health Care, a Chicago-based delivery system, will use software from HealthPort, Alpharetta, Ga., to help it prepare for Medicare audits.
The delivery system will use RACPro Basic software to view financial records and track the status of Medicare Recovery Audit Contractor’s requests for information.

Following a demonstration project in several states, Medicare will roll out is RAC project nationally in the months ahead. The RACs will audit providers’ Medicare bills primarily to identify possible overpayments, requiring hospitals to provide extensive documentation to justify charges. The HealthPort software helps hospitals track the information provided to RACs.
