Philips Healthcare Picks a CMO

Philips Healthcare has named Eric Silfen, M.D., as the first chief medical officer of the Andover, Mass.-based vendor.
Silfen will work to ensure that Philips' product development better addresses the needs of patients and clinicians throughout the care cycle. He most recently led design and development of clinical decision support systems for biomedicine in the Department of Biomedical Informatics Research at Philips Research, which is a separate part of Royal Philips Electronics.

Silfen is certified in internal and emergency medicine. He has served as CMO at St. Charles Hospital and Rehabilitation Center in Port Jefferson, N.Y.; CMO and director of emergency services at Reston (Va.) Hospital Center; and medical director for emergency medical services at Dulles Airport in Washington, D.C.
