PACS Vendors Get Big Contracts

Two vendors of picture archiving and communication systems have announced contracts with large health care organizations.

The first contract will enable members of San Diego-based Premier Inc., a purchasing coalition for health care organizations, to get special pricing on PACS and radiology information systems from DR Systems Inc., also based in San Diego. Premier members at 1,700 hospitals and 49,000 other health care sites can begin receiving the discounts, which include lease-to-purchase and other deals on Jan. 1.

Additionally, San Francisco-based McKesson Corp. has signed a deal to outfit the 22 facilities of the Shriners Hospitals for Children with its Horizon Imaging PACS and related services. Shriners Hospitals for Children is based in Tampa, Fla.
