Scott Wallace has resigned as president and CEO of The National Alliance for Health Information Technology, a Chicago-based industry advocacy coalition.
Wallace, who left on his own volition, according to an alliance spokesperson, did not return a telephone call asking for comment. In a printed statement, he said, I am looking forward to taking a little time off to recharge before announcing some new health technology ventures.
Curt Selquist, chair of the alliance and retired chair of Johnson & Johnson Health Care Systems Inc., will serve as interim CEO. The alliance board also is exploring new, undisclosed strategic initiatives and expects to make recommendations by early May.
Among other initiatives, the alliance since 2002 has worked to achieve industry consensus on mandated bar codes for drugs and biological products, helped launch the Commission on Systemic Interoperability, and co-founded the Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology.
As a subcontractor to consulting firm BearingPoint Inc., the alliance is managing an effort to create consensus definitions for specific health care information technology terms. More information is available at nahit.org.
