* Palo Alto, Calif.-based Hewlett-Packard’s Enterprise Services Division, which includes the former Electronic Data Systems, will continue to serve as Oklahoma’s Medicaid fiscal agent under a new seven-year contract valued at $281 million. The company has been the fiscal agent since 2002. New duties under the new contract include building a member Web portal to apply for and track benefits, and completion of HIPAA 5010 and ICD-10 compliance work.
* Two-hospital MedCentral Health System in Mansfield, Ohio, will build a health information exchange for its six-county service area using the HIE platform of MobileMD Inc. The delivery system, anchored with 326-bed Mansfield Hospital and 25-bed Shelby Hospital, has a medical staff of more than 200 physicians.
* Pegasystems Inc., a vendor of business process management applications, has introduced a new revenue cycle management system for provider organizations. Among other features, the Revenue Cycle Manager application enables error correction at each revenue stage, according to the vendor. Tenet Healthcare was a pilot site.
* MBM Corp. of Charleston, S.C., which sells a line of business shredder products, has introduced a hard drive punch called the 0101 HDP. The size of a typical centralized office shredder, the device punches a hole completely through a hard drive, rendering it unreadable, according to the vendor. It can be used on standard size hard drives from personal computers, laptops, notebooks, printers, copiers, PDAs and cell phones.
