A one-day forum in February will explore how HIPAA's administrative simplification and privacy/security provisions affect health care banking services.

"A significant focus of this forum will focus on HIPAA compliance and readiness in relation to security and privacy, and address the issue regarding status as to whether financial services organizations are covered entities or business associates," according to a notice promoting the event.

An open panel will enable stakeholders to address a variety of issues regarding the growth of banking services in health care. The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange and Electronic Healthcare Network Accreditation Commission will present the forum, Feb. 10 in Fairfax, Va.
