In an effort to revamp its approach to nurse staffing, Northeast Georgia Health System integrated data from key systems to better evaluate staffing effectiveness and its impact on patient outcomes.

Speakers will address the limitations of a standardized staffing model and outcomes reporting and will describe the data collection needed to drive a more effective staffing arrangement. Among the presenters is Nancy Barton, R.N., who serves as director, clinical resource management/nursing professional practice at the Gainesville-based health system.

Barton is a 40-year industry veteran who is responsible for management and leadership of the health systems' nursing workforce. She oversees centralized staffing, the nursing budget process, and nursing quality and professional practice.

The session takes place on Tuesday, March 4, at 11 a.m. HIMSS is also offering a two-day preconference symposium on nursing issues.
