“From our past events there, New Orleans has shown HIMSS that it is a very capable partner and knows how to make large conventions successful, says H. Stephen Lieber, HIMSS president and CEO. “Our philosophy has been, and remains, that the HIMSS Conference should rotate around the country. By doing so, I.T. professionals, physicians, nurses, health care executives and others from patient care delivery organizations have more opportunities to attend the conference, which would be closer to their homes and offer lower travel and time costs.”
The 2010 event will be held in Atlanta, and the convention will be held in Orlando in 2011. No site has been selected for 2012, a HIMSS spokesman said.
Here’s a history of attendance in recent years:
* 2006, San Diego, 24,870
* 2007, New Orleans, 24,076
* 2008, Orlando, 29,179
* 2009, Chicago, 27,429.
