The funds were awarded to The Chesapeake Regional Information System for our Patients, serving the Baltimore region, and the Montgomery County Health Information Exchange Collaborative, serving suburban Washington, D.C. The local initiatives also will receive guidance from the Maryland Health Care Commission and the states Health Services Cost Review Commission.
Chesapeake HIE participants include Erickson Retirement Communities, the University of Maryland Medical System, Johns Hopkins Hospital and Health System, MedStar Health, Shepherds Clinic and the clinics of the Baltimore Medical System.
Montgomery County HIE participants include the Primary Care Coalition of Montgomery County, Montgomery General Hospital, Holy Cross Hospital, Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Washington Adventist Hospital and the Prince Georges County Health Department.
Gov. Martin OMalley will host a summit this summer to bring together providers across the sate to develop plans for widespread adoption of electronic health records systems and creation of a statewide HIE.
