Docs Use Portal to Access Hospital Data

The Washington (Pa.) Hospital has implemented health information exchange software from MobileMD to give affiliated practices access to clinical data via a Web portal.

The Warminster, Pa.-based vendor's software is designed to connect with disparate clinical information systems to enable data exchange. Washington Hospital is using the software via the application service provider computing model, which enables physicians to access hospital clinical data via a Web portal, rather through a common electronic health records system.

The 265-bed hospital began deploying the software last September at 33 affiliated group practices. Now practices that have implemented the technology can receive lab results, radiology reports and other transcribed reports via the portal.
