Medical Home Project Gets Leaders

The Patient Centered Primary Care Collaborative has chosen John Agwunobi, M.D., and David Nance, M.D., as co-chairmen of its new Center for eHealth Information Adoption and Exchange. Agwunobi is senior vice president and president of health and wellness for Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Bentonville, Ark. Nance is vice president and chief medical officer at McKesson Health Solutions, San Francisco.

The Washington-based group, formed in 2007, is a coalition of businesses, insurance companies, consumers and primary care organizations that advocate, among other goals, the use of a "medical home" where I.T. is used to document and coordinate care across all provider settings. The Center for eHealth Information Adoption and Exchange will interact with the group's other programs by offering direction for implementation of I.T. in demonstration projects as well as keeping its members up to date with industry standards, protocols and best practices.

Co-chairmen Agwunobi and Nance also will help members to evaluate the use and application of health information exchange to support and enable the development and broad adoption of health I.T. in private practice among community practitioners.
