Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. has launched a new Web site to provide consumers with information to determine if they should seek treatment for a possible case of H1N1 flu.

The H1N1 Response Center includes a self-assessment licensed from Emory University. The assessment aids in deciding whether symptoms could be caused by the H1N1 virus and provides guidance on what to do next.

The Web site also has a prepare-for-visit tool to enable completion of a health history, which could include information stored in a consumer's Microsoft HealthVault personal health record. A consumer also could have a remote consultation with physicians using technology from Microsoft partners TeleDoc and American Well, which offer teleconsultations with contracted physicians.
The Web site is available at h1n1responsecenter.com.

A major success factor for accountable care organizations will be linking caregivers across the spectrum of care delivery. If history is any indication, that's going to be an industrywide struggle.
