HDM Breaking News, May 20, 2008

The Certification Commission for Healthcare Information Technology has certified two more ambulatory electronic health records systems under its 2007 criteria.

The most recent certifications are Record UE Version 4.5 from MedcomSoft Corp., Atlanta, and Sevocity Version 5.0 from Conceptual Mindworks Inc., San Antonio. The Sevocity system received pre-market conditional certification, which means it will be fully certified once its use at a physician office has been verified.

Certification of a vendor's product doesn't mean all EHRs from that vendor meet CCHIT criteria. The commission certifies specific versions of specific products.

So far, CCHIT has certified 31 systems under its 2007 criteria, which is no longer open for applications. It will begin accepting applications for 2008 certification beginning July 1.
