Industry Vet to Lead MedAvant

Claims clearinghouse MedAvant Healthcare Solutions has named Andrew Lawson as president. He succeeds Peter Fleming, who served as interim CEO.

Lawson served in several senior positions at Misys Healthcare Systems from 1999 through 2007. In his last roles, he oversaw Misys' integration of the acquired Payerpath clearinghouse and served as president of the vendor's hospital division, which has since been sold.

Atlanta-based MedAvant in July filed for bankruptcy protection. Last month the company was sold to El Segundo, Calif.-based Marlin Equity Partners LLC for $24.35 million.
