Medical reference software vendor Epocrates Inc. has made the content of its Essentials suite of applications available via Blackberry smart phones.

Blackberry use among U.S. physicians grew more than 20% during the past quarter, according to San Mateo, Calif.-based Epocrates. Available content includes peer-reviewed articles from the British Medical Journal, hundreds of diagnostic and laboratory tests for interpretation and diagnostic support, brand name Over-the-Counter drug products with drug interactions, alternative (herbal) medicines, and infectious disease treatment guides.

The Essentials application also can be downloaded to Palm, Windows Mobile, iPhone and iPod touch devices. More information is available at epocrates.com/products/essentials.
