Dell Computer Corp., Round Rock, Texas, has announced it will give users of its PDAs and notebook computers 2,000 free minutes of Wi-Fi wireless network access via hotspots from T-Mobile, Bellevue, Wash. Users will receive the free minutes within 30 days of activating a new T-Mobile hotspot service plan.

A hotspot is a specific location where an access point provides public wireless broadband network services via a wireless LAN to visitors with mobile hardware. Some pioneering hospitals have begun implementing the technology to facilitate Internet and e-mail access for guests and visiting remote employees. T-Mobile has more than 2,600 hotspots across the country, including locations in airports, Borders Books and Music Stores, and Starbucks coffeehouses.
