Blackberry Vendor Narrows Losses
Research in Motion Ltd. reported losses of $8.2 million for the first quarter ended May 31, compared with a loss of $31.1 million in the previous quarter. The Waterloo, Ontario, Canada-based communications device and mobile software vendor attributes $7.5 million of the losses to pending litigation. The company reported $104.5 million in revenue for the quarter, up from $87.5 million in the previous quarter. Research in Motion reported that 50% of its revenue was from the sale of its Blackberry communications devices, 37% for service, 6% for software licenses and development, and 7% from OEM radios and other revenue.
