To improve communication of information between physicians, Rochester, N.Y.-based Carestream Health Inc. early next year will integrate its radiology software with an application from IBM Corp., Armonk, N.Y.
Combining IBMs Lotus Sametime software and Carestream Healths radiology applications will facilitate communication, including instant messaging and Voice over Internet Protocol interactions, between radiologists and other medical professionals involved in the diagnosis and treatment of patients.
The system will enable physicians to share a computer screen in real time so they can collaborate on a diagnosis while viewing the same diagnostic image. Physicians will be able to view the image and communicate via instant messaging or VoIP while viewing the image.
Carestream Health made the announcement at the 2007 Radiological Society of North Americas annual conference in Chicago. More information is available at carestreamhealth.com.
