Medscape Inc. has announced the national release of Internet-based personal health records following a year-long pilot project. The service, called AboutMyHealth, enables consumers to create personal medical histories on a protected Web site. The histories can include official medical records with the consent of a consumer's physician. The service also offers medical information content and physician-patient communication. About 1,300 patients associated with Baylor Family Medicine in Texas, Providence Health System in Oregon, and Riverside Physician Services and Carilion Health System in Virginia tested the service.
