Meta Health Technology Inc. has introduced Web-based software to improve communication between medical records departments and physicians.

The Electronic Physician Query software is designed to enable medical records personnel to query physicians and receive responses when additional documentation is needed before completing a chart.

The New York-based vendor touts the software as being particularly useful in speeding the process of getting more information from physicians to establish appropriate severity of illness under Medicare’s new severity-adjusted diagnostic related groups payment mechanism. The software also includes reimbursement and staff productivity measurement tools.

The vendor announced its product at the American Health Information Management Association’s Annual Convention and Exhibit in Philadelphia. More information is available at metahealth.com.
