A new Web-based service will make it easier for providers, payers, information technology vendors and others to track initiatives that may affect their own proprietary I.T. programs.
The North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, a collaborative stakeholder group, in 2005 started an online timeline to inform members of upcoming deadlines for federal regulations and proposed or final standards from standards development organizations.
Now the Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange, an advocacy group, will team with the alliance to expand the timeline and make it available to all stakeholders. The timeline also will track technology initiatives that can affect I.T. projects, such as the Dossia personal health records program, the National Provider/Payer Enumeration System and the national health information network.
The alliance and WEDI expect the initial timeline database to be available within three months on both organizations’ Web sites, nchica.org and wedi.org.
The organizations are seeking sponsorship and support commitments for the project, which will determine how often updates can be published. If interested, send an e-mail to Holt Anderson, executive director of the North Carolina Healthcare Information and Communications Alliance, at holt@nchica.org.
