The American Health Information Community is seeking public comment on the development of new “use cases” that describe the role of electronic health records systems to support particular functions.
AHIC, an advisory body to federal officials, has developed several previous use cases to demonstrate the capabilities and standards needed in EHRs.
Now, AHIC is asking for comment on prototype use cases covering public health reporting, consultation and transfer of care, immunization management, remote monitoring, remote consultation, and personalized health care. The prototype use cases include specific questions being asked of industry stakeholders to aid work on “detailed,” or final use cases. The prototype use cases are available at hhs.gov/healthit/usecases.
AHIC will solicit a second round of comments on the draft detailed use cases.
