Improvements in operating income helped Spheris Inc. reduce its net losses during the second quarter and first half of 2007. The Franklin, Tenn.-based company sells physician dictation/transcription software and outsourced services.
In the second quarter, Spheris lost $1.8 million, compared with a $2.8 million loss during the same period last year. Quarterly revenue fell 3% to $50.5 million following delayed implementations of some new business.
For the first half of 2007, Spheris lost $4.0 million, compared with a $5.7 million loss during the same time in 2006. Half-year revenue was $102.9 million, down 1%. Company executives call 2007 a building year and expect revenue growth in 2008 and beyond. More information is available at spheris.com.
