The Workgroup for Electronic Data Interchange and payer coalition CAQH will host a 90-minute conference call on June 15 to explain an initiative to simplify electronic administrative transactions.

Washington-based CAQH, formerly called the Coalition for Affordable Quality Healthcare, is developing operating rules for consistent, technology-agnostic use of existing standards for claims and related transactions. Its first operating rules cover eligibility and benefit determination transactions.

The conference call will address system connectivity standards, inquiry acknowledgements, maximum response times for batch and real-time transactions, minimum hours of system availability, and standardization of the flow and formatting of companion guides.

The target audience includes insurers, providers, vendors and clearinghouses, associations, and standards development organizations. Additional information is available at www.wedi.org.
