DestinationRx, which operates a Web site enabling consumers to compare prescription pricing at mail order and Internet pharmacies, has acquired Chicago-based Rxaminer, a vendor of Web-based consumer information on dose-specific and therapeutically equivalent drugs. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Drug benefit plans, health insurers, large employers and some advocacy groups license software from the companies to give consumers tools to compare drug plans and choose appropriate but less expensive medications.
Los Angeles-based DestinationRx plans to incorporate Rxaminer technology into a soon-to-be-released product that will enable Medicare Part D beneficiaries to calculate their true out-of-pocket costs under their current or potential Part D benefit plan.
More information is available at destinationrx.com and rxaminer.com.
