New London (N.H.) Hospital has implemented PC blade computing technology from ClearCube Technology, Austin, Texas. Contract terms with the 25-bed facility were not disclosed.
The Austin, Texas-based vendor offers full PCs in small, rectangular chassis called "blades," that sit in a temperature-controlled rack in a data center. This means users' hard drives are centralized and users at the desktop or a cart use a small access device that links to a keyboard, mouse and monitor.
Remotely centralizing the hard drives away from the desktop increases data and physical security while decreasing management and support costs by 40%, according to the vendor. For more information, visit clearcube.com.
