Honolulu-based Convergence CT will build and operate an analytical data warehouse for Anceta LLC, a subsidiary of the American Medical Group Association. Convergence CT expects the contract's value to exceed $350 million within 10 years.

Alexandria, Va.-based AMGA is a trade association representing specialty physicians in group practices, hospitals and delivery systems. Its Collaborative Data Warehouse will be designed to give its members data and analytical tools to measure their performance and compare it to peer organizations.

The goal of the data warehouse is to assist in developing industrywide quality benchmarks, new tools for clinical trials, disease management protocols, and evidence-based guidelines, according to the association.

Association members would supply the data for the warehouse. Each participating group practice would have access to and control over its own patient data, as well as access to aggregated data from all participants.

Convergence CT's DB*FOCUS technology is designed to extract data from existing hospital and clinical information systems. Anceta is a joint venture of the AMGA, Aventis Pharmaceuticals and Accenture.

Additional information is available at convergencect.com and anceta.com.

A major success factor for accountable care organizations will be linking caregivers across the spectrum of care delivery. If history is any indication, that's going to be an industrywide struggle.
