MS-HUG Award Finalists Set

The Microsoft Healthcare Users Group and Redmond, Wash.-based Microsoft Corp. have announced finalists for the 8th annual MS-HUG awards, which honor innovative uses of Microsoft technology in health care. Winners will be announced during the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Annual Conference and Exhibition next month in Dallas. MS-HUG is a membership community within Chicago-based HIMSS.

Finalists in five customer and four information technology vendor categories are:

  • Clinic of the Year: Affinity Health Group, Tifton, Ga.; Center for Assisted Reproduction, Beford, Texas; and Ogden (Utah) Clinic.

  • Health Plan of the Year: Highmark Inc., Pittsburgh; Partnership HealthPlan of California, Fairfield; and Premera Blue Cross, Mountlake Terrace, Wash.

  • Hospital of the Year: Alamance Regional Medical Center, Burlington, N.C.; Norton Healthcare, Louisville, Ky.; and Truman Medical Centers Inc., Kansas City, Mo.

  • Nurse of the Year: Monica Andrews, Center for Assisted Reproduction, Bedford, Texas; Mindy Jones, Affinity Health Group, Tifton, Ga.; and Lori Reynolds, Fairview Health Services, Minneapolis.

  • Physician of the Year: Kevin Doody, Center for Assisted Reproduction, Bedford, Texas; Craig Feied, National Institute for Medical Informatics and MedStar Health, Washington; and E. Monty Stirman, Holston Medical Group, Kingsport, Tenn.

  • Administrative/Financial Information Systems: IMPACT.MD from Allscripts Healthcare Solutions; Payrollmation Time and Attendance from API Software Inc.; and NextGen EPM from NextGen Healthcare Information Systems Inc.

  • Acute Care Clinical/Patient Information Systems: The dbMotion System from dbMotion Ltd.; CareSuite from Picis Inc.; and iSite Enterprise Picture Archiving and Communication Systems from Stentor Inc.

  • Ambulatory Care Clinical/Patient Information Systems: TouchWorks from Allscripts Healthcare Solutions; iMedica PhysicianSuite from iMedical Corp.; MedInformatix from MedInformatix Inc.; and NextGen EMR from NextGen Healthcare Information Systems Inc.

  • Enabling Technologies: MediKiosk CVM Enterprise Server from Galvanon, Inc.; eMPOWERx from Gold Standard Inc.; and IQmark Digital ECG PDA from Midmark Diagnostics Group.
