Regulatory Guru Sets Out on His Own

Justin Barnes, a well-known industry veteran, has left his post as vice president of industry and government affairs at software firm Greenway Health. Barnes, past chair of the HIMSS Electronic Health Record Association who has frequently represented vendors on Capitol Hill, is starting companies that will not compete with EHR firms, and plans to stay active in advocacy activities. Barnes says the companies will target the needs of ACOs, focusing on supporting them with technology and advisory services, patient engagement and management initiatives as consumerism increases in healthcare, as well as cost management and data exchange.
