Pam McNutt took up health I.T. when she was fresh out of college, doing programming and statistical analysis for a hospital software vendor. She's been CIO at Methodist Health System for the past 20 years, and has taken industry leadership roles on many HIT policy issues. She's served on policy committees for both HIMSS and CHIME, and enjoys giving the "boots on the ground" input to lawmakers and regulators. "We try not to sound negative and whiny-just to tell them what's working well and what's not working so well." In July, she testified to ONCHIT about the significant challenges that face providers attempting to meet Stage 2 meaningful use requirements and deadlines. She talked to HDM about some of those challenges.
