HHS has awarded $1 billion in stimulus-funded grants for 146 projects across the nation to construct or improve biomedical research facilities. At least five of the projects primarily involve enhancing current I.T. capabilities. Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, University of Delaware, and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center will build advanced data centers; Duke University will build a specialized database. Loyola University in Chicago will expand its I.T. capabilities through new construction and renovation of facilities. More information is available at ncrr.nih.gov/recovery/construction.
