Duke Medicine has made the decision to transition from a multi-vendor, best-of-breed portfolio of health information technologies to that of a single vendor enterprise electronic health record (EHR). An aggressive deployment timeline was devised to replace and integrate revenue, inpatient, and ambulatory systems supporting two community hospitals, an academic medical center, and several hundred clinics with 'Maestro Care', a project that that uses Epic Systems technology. Given this large investment, a new advanced analytics team was formed to investigate and monitor its value. This talk will present the theoretical framework for Maestro Care benefits realization and describe the strategy for managing scope within a small team.
