Building upon over 30 years of experience in the fields of banking, payments, marketing and the Internet, Day Jimenez is the Co-Founder and President of Xtrategies which was formed in May of 2001 to provide consulting services to the Payment Industry in the Latin America and Caribbean Region. Xtrategies currently has over 85 Bank clients in Latin America and Europe. Most recently, Day has co-founded GCS Systems, a mobile payments company focusing on the Latin America market. GCS has launched a mobile payments service in the Dominican Republic under the tPago brand. As of May, the tPago ecosystem includes 10 Banks in the country with over 95% of the Banking Systems� assets, the three largest Telcos with over 8 million clients, the largest card acquirer and over 35 of the largest billers in the country. GCS is now expanding to Colombia, Puerto Rico, and El Salvador. Xtrategies has supported several Banks in the implementation of chip cards, the last one being the launch of a Visa Debit EMV card. After more than a year of preparation, this card is being distributed to more than 800,000 clients. Prior to establishing Xtrategies, he was Chief e-Business Officer of Patagon.com, where he was part of the management team that established Patag�n as a global player in seven countries including the US, Europe and Latin America. Patag�n was sold to Banco Santander of Spain in 2001 for US$705 million. From 1994 to 1999, Day held several positions at Visa International Latin America and Caribbean Region, the last of which was as Senior Vice-President and Group Executive responsible for Emerging Products. During his tenure at Visa he was involved in several initiatives among which were the deployment of debit cards, the �End Game Strategy� for the Region, the launch of smart cards, and the development and launch of ecommerce. During the mid 90�s he participated in the EMV committee and the Visa Cash committee where both of these standards were developed and established globally. Day was responsible for implementing EMV in Latin America with rollouts in Brazil, Mexico and Argentina. His team developed the Platinum card with a chip as well as the Visa Distribution product with a chip. Earlier in his career, he was Vice-President of Marketing for Grupo Financiero Popular in the Dominican Republic where he was responsible for Marketing, Product Development and Public Relations. He was a member of the Board of Directors of several subsidiaries of the Group and participated in the formation and implementation of Banks in New York, Miami, Grand Cayman and Panama.
